First Project of 2017

I love that the new year gives us all a fresh start. We can choose to wipe the slate clean of the previous year and begin again. Hopes, dreams, knit and crochet projects!

My first project for 2017 is a pair of socks, and I'm off to a great start! I've finished one and cast on immediately for the second one. There will be no "one sock syndrome" this year.

I've been encouraged immensely to get into the second sock, because I am knitting this pair in our newest yarn, Yuri. As you know, I love yarn. I love crinkly yarn and crisp yarn. I love yarn that others find scratchy. I love cotton and linen and rayon, wool, alpaca and llama. I love it all. But I've a special fondness for yarns that SQUISH.

Yuri is a year-round sock yarn that's great for more than just socks.  It's spun and dyed in Peru from fiber raised in Uruguay. The merino sheep are certified to be from woolgrowers who do not practice mulesing.

At 21 microns, the yarn is so soft, so round, so plump, so SQUISHY, that I actually was happy to cast on the second sock and keep knitting.

But as you can see, you'll be excited to work with Yuri on a whole host of projects. Here are a few from our new collection.

Patterns are available in the Yuri book at your local yarn store (along with the skeins in ten tonally dyed colorways). Individual patterns and the book are available digitally through Ravelry too.
