It's A Yarn Party

We just got back from sunny Scottsdale, Arizona after attending a fantastically fun Classic Elite Yarns party at Jessica Knits!

LYSO Tammy Barker throws a great shindig.

Jessica Knits' customers are delightful, adventurous knitters and crocheters. Each guest tried out yarns from our Spring/Summer collection, chose their favorites from our sample garments and began new projects.

Jessica Knits stocks a large selection of Classic Elite Yarns. From our newest merino fingering Yuri, to the tried and true Classic Silk, and our beautiful, natural wools Mohawk and Wildwood, you can find nearly whatever you are looking for (and some things you didn't know you couldn't live without) on the shelves at Jessica Knits.

We even enjoyed an impromptu and informal fashion show!

A big thank you to Tammy for creating such a wonderful evening for her customers and us.

Timely

It's amazing how a trend gets going...

Oldgoatwoman knit hers in the traditional style.

Castis is knitting hers from the top down.

Teamama67 did hers in fingering weight alpaca.

Msknitterific didn't stop at just one.

Sparkley's hat uses Liberty Wool!

And of course, there must be one in supersoft Chateau.

Thanking Your LYS & The American Red Cross

Last month, devastating fires across the country took lives and livelihoods and affected families from Gatlinburg, TN to Rochester, NY to Oakland, CA.

Like many of you, we watched these tragedies unfold while feeling helpless to assist. Then we remembered that together we can make a difference.

So in December we pledged to make a donation to the American Red Cross for every bag of our best selling yarn -- Liberty Wool -- sold to yarn shops that month. With no surprise, our customers stepped up, and we shipped them hundreds and hundreds of bags of beautiful Liberty Wool! And we are proud to make our gift to the American Red Cross on behalf of local yarn shops and yarn lovers.
Did you know that 95% of ARC workers are volunteers? And that 90% of the disasters they respond to are home fires? And 91% of every dollar is spent on humanitarian relief? They respond to more than 65,000 disasters each year, so we know that this gift will help countless families.

Now we ask you to show your LYS that their investment in Liberty Wool and in this American Red Cross donation was a great choice. Put on your rain boots and snow boots and (weather permitting) get on over to your fave shop and pick up a skein or two of Liberty Wool. Won't you show your LYSO this post, and tell them thank you again from us?

Above and below, we've picked some projects we love from Ravelry to inspire you.

Thank you for allowing us to provide you with beautiful yarns and thanks for participating in this ARC gift.

First Project of 2017

I love that the new year gives us all a fresh start. We can choose to wipe the slate clean of the previous year and begin again. Hopes, dreams, knit and crochet projects!

My first project for 2017 is a pair of socks, and I'm off to a great start! I've finished one and cast on immediately for the second one. There will be no "one sock syndrome" this year.

I've been encouraged immensely to get into the second sock, because I am knitting this pair in our newest yarn, Yuri. As you know, I love yarn. I love crinkly yarn and crisp yarn. I love yarn that others find scratchy. I love cotton and linen and rayon, wool, alpaca and llama. I love it all. But I've a special fondness for yarns that SQUISH.

Yuri is a year-round sock yarn that's great for more than just socks.  It's spun and dyed in Peru from fiber raised in Uruguay. The merino sheep are certified to be from woolgrowers who do not practice mulesing.

At 21 microns, the yarn is so soft, so round, so plump, so SQUISHY, that I actually was happy to cast on the second sock and keep knitting.

But as you can see, you'll be excited to work with Yuri on a whole host of projects. Here are a few from our new collection.

Patterns are available in the Yuri book at your local yarn store (along with the skeins in ten tonally dyed colorways). Individual patterns and the book are available digitally through Ravelry too.
